Rugby Parkway is my fifth layout. It is ficticious, but based around Rugby on the WCML.

This project started off in September 2004, and as I said then, there is still a great amount of work to be done, but this is now mainly scenic details - the more fun part!
It has not been a project for the faint hearted, and I have often wondered why I didn`t opt for a more compact layout, but I set my goals and went for it!
The layout has a continuous 4 track mainline, and features 2 stations, Rugby Parkway and a run-down St.Johns. The layout also features a locomotive maintenance depot, and a 47 road fiddle yard which operates on 2 different levels.

I have modelled different time periods in the past, and as such have various stock from these different periods. I was initially going to stick to a strict time period, but I could see this being too frustrating for me! How could I run Early AC electrics in BR Blue, and 87030 in Virgin livery for example? It was then decided to operate the layout in different periods.
The main period modelled is generally late 80`s / early 90`s, but operating sessions could see stock from the early to mid eighties operating one week, gradually moving on in time over operating sessions, and then a smooth transition back again. Sticking to these simple rules, most trains should be in period with no major clashes, and over the weeks a slow transition can be observed.
Hopefully the diagram below can help explain what I`m getting at.....

I realise that this method can produce problems with structures, vehicles and figures perhaps looking out of place at times, but a lot of thought has gone into this area to minimalise any such effects, and there are even going to be some 'inter-changable' buildings!
