Now you don`t!

That`s right. You can no longer see 86248 County of Clwyd - Sir Clwyd! 86260 Driver Wallace Oakes GC is now here, and here to stay!. Well, I don`t suppose I can keep it here really .....
Anyway, the model is now finished, and ready to go home!

Just one of my little touches. I can remember seeing this loco with a newspaper, assumingly 'tucked under the sun visor' in this fashion.

Rabbit in your headlights?

Seemingly scared of the spotlight, this loco has decided to come out of hiding. New and improved nameplates have now been added. No doubt etched versions will become available once this model is completed!

Also, as can be seen, all roof detail is now in place, and the loco isn`t too far from despatch!

Name and shame?

The transferred nameplates haven`t worked out quite as well as I would have hoped. But as no etches are currently available, it`s all about making the most of a bad situation. I may feel a little happier if I make a few minor adjustments and print them out again.....

Below we can see the lowered white stripes. Not perfect, but certainly an improvement which I hope is acceptable.

Shiny Happy Locos.....

86260 is about to receive its new transfers..... Nameplates are also to be added at this point. When sattisfied with he appearance, and after allowing the transfers to dry properly, the bodshell will receive some fine coats of satin varnish before detailing work recommences on the roof.

One of these mornings.....

The underframe for 86260 is now complete. As you can see, work to detail the front ends has also commenced. The bodyshell sides need a little cleaning prior to receiving a coat of gloss varnish in readiness for application of the new transfers. However, that is a job for another day!

White stripes.....

Here we can see the last of Hornby`s printed white stripes. These are being gently removed with enamel thinners. Work has almost been completed on the underframe, with fine details now in need of painting.

Slow progress..........

Not much progress on this one yet. Unwanted printed detail is yet to be removed. Everything else has been taken apart, leaving a plastic corpse. Don`t worry, we`ll soon start adding things back again, and the loco can enjoy a new lease of life.

Now you see me......

A final look at 86248 before transformation....
